A pedigree is a paper trail that tracks each time a prescription pharmaceutical has changed hands before reaching the consumer of the product. Pedigrees are required for all prescription items intended for human use and consumption. Under the Prescription Drug Marketing Act (PDMA) implemented by the FDA to prevent drug counterfeiting, a drug pedigree is a statement of origin that identifies each prior sale, purchase, or trade of a drug, including the date of those transactions and the names and addresses of all parties to them. Under the pedigree requirement, each person who is engaged in the wholesale distribution of a prescription drug in interstate commerce, who is not the manufacturer or an authorized distributor of record for that drug, must provide to the person who receives the drug a pedigree for that drug. |
The Harvard Drug Group, its divisions and affiliated companies are in full compliance with all current Federal and State laws where pedigrees are required. We receive and maintain inventory in our warehouse using lot specific data, and all orders are picked, packed and shipped by lot specific numbers.
