1967
Nathan Brodie founds Great Lakes Wholesale Drug, a short-line pharmaceutical wholesaler.
1988
Randy Friedman and Jay Levine purchase Great Lakes Wholesale from the Brodie Family and form the Harvard Division. The new owners place an emphasis on a product line featuring generics and a full-line of brands.
1992
Great Lakes acquires General Generics, an Oxford, MS-based generic distributor selling brands under the PDQ wholesale name. As a byproduct of this acquisition, Great Lakes also starts developing a relationship with Apotex Inc. of Canada.
1993
Great Lakes acquires Logen Pharmaceuticals based in Florida and New York. The company sold brands under the PDQ wholesale name.
1995
Great Lakes acquires Major Pharmaceuticals, a generic distributor focused on their own private-label products.
1997
The Harvard Drug Group LLC is formed, encompassing all companies under one name and identity.
2006
Harvard acquires RS Veterinary Supply to enlarge its existing veterinary supply product line and sales force.
Today
The Harvard Drug Group is comprised of Major Pharmaceuticals, Wholesaler & Distributor, Retail Pharmacy, Medical, and Veterinary Sales. We will continue to expand our product offerings and services.
In 1988 Randolph J. Friedman co-purchased Great Lakes Wholesale Drugs eventually forming The Harvard Drug Group LLC.
Mr. Friedman earned a bachelor's degree from Trinity College - Hartford, CT graduating Phi Beta Kappa. He also is a law graduate of the University of Michigan and a current member of the State Bar of Michigan.
1991 - Member - Government Relations Committee of the National Wholesale Druggist's Association
In 1988 Jay Levine co-purchased Great Lakes Wholesale Drugs eventually forming The Harvard Drug Group LLC.
Mr. Levine earned a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. In his career working for the generic pharmaceutical distributor, Wesco Pharmaceutical, began the legacy from National Sales Manager to today.
